01Fit the ear tag
It is fitted like a standard identification tag. The sensor monitors head movement to distinguish eating, rumination, walking and resting.
02The gateway collects the data
A gateway in the barn collects information from the tags and sends it online using its SIM card. No WiFi or computer is needed; the gateway requires power and mobile network coverage.
03Get alerts on your phone
Check your herd in the Otlax app. When a cow is in heat, the app shows the suggested insemination window.

The ear tags do not connect to the internet directly. A gateway in the barn collects their data and sends it to the cloud.

Coverage depends on walls, metal structures and gateway position. The number of gateways is planned around the size and layout of your barn.

The gateway uses its own mobile connection. It needs suitable network coverage and an electrical supply in the barn.

How is the price calculated, and what do I need for a quote?
Pricing depends on the number of ear tags and gateways, installation and software service. Share your herd size and location on WhatsApp. Calculator prices are reference values; we confirm a quote for your farm during the conversation.
Will it work if my barn has no internet?
The tags do not need internet access; they connect to the barn’s gateway over Bluetooth. The gateway sends data using its SIM card. Live alerts require mobile coverage and power at the gateway. We can review coverage for your location together.
Could the ear tag break if a cow hits a wall?
The flexible TPU enclosure and IP67 protection provide water and dust resistance for barn conditions. Ear tags and gateways carry a three-year warranty. We can clarify repair and replacement terms with your quote.
Could it hurt the cow’s ear?
The tag weighs approximately 25 grams. Correct placement, hygiene and regular checks are important for ear health. We plan fitting with you during installation.
Does it need charging?
No. The battery is inside a sealed enclosure and is designed to last more than five years. Power use is reduced while the cow is still and activity monitoring resumes when it moves.
Does it only measure mounting activity?
No. The sensor measures head movement to track eating, rumination, walking and resting. Changes in rumination and activity can help identify health concerns earlier and support your veterinarian’s assessment.
Does it measure body temperature?
No. This ear tag measures movement. Temperature measurement requires a different sensor.
Is data lost if the power or internet goes down?
The ear tag stores measurements in its own memory and sends them when the connection returns.
How many cows can the system support?
We plan installations for herds of 15 to 500 cows. The number of gateways depends on the size and layout of the barn.
How quickly can I get service?
Service and replacement times depend on your location and the issue. Share your location so we can clarify local support and warranty arrangements at the quote stage.
What happens to the system if your company closes?
The system uses standard industrial components that are also available from other manufacturers. Data export and service continuity provisions are addressed in the contract. We can discuss these details with you.
